I was invited by the Pictou County Partnership to host my Smarter Smartphone Photography workshop at the Meadow’s Retreat recently. It was such a great venue and space hosted by the lovely Carissa Ainslie. Carissa made sure that our rooms had everything we needed and we felt very comfortable and at home. Hosting my workshop to 8 guests was handled very efficiently and during our break, Carissa provided refreshments and cakes/cookies all from local businesses. 

The Meadows Retreat is a great space to host your event when wanting to open up your network in a new area of Nova Scotia. The thriving town of New Glasgow and Pictou County has a lot of Diverse and Equitable businesses which I don’t normally connect with and the added bonus of not having to drive anywhere before your event starts was an added benefit!

I will certainly be back and highly recommend The Meadow’s Retreat as a great arts and entertainment environment for hosting your event.

I facilitated a two-night somatic writing retreat at The Meadows in 2023, and it was life-changing! Not just for myself but for all involved. The space of The Meadows was so perfect for it. There were 12 of us seated between the two connecting larger rooms on the main floor, which was full of so much charm and character, and comfy chairs! We had a yummy potluck in the cute kitchen area, and used the carriage house for some movement-based work. Everyone got to spread out on their own later, walk the property, and find little nooks and crannies to write in. It was serene and peaceful, no noise at all, and beautiful views from being up on the hill. For those of us who slept over night, we enjoyed the privacy of our bedrooms and the communal nature of the house. I couldn’t have wished for a better location to run my first retreat.  I’ve also used the centre for my own private retreat when I was finishing edits for my book, and it was just what I needed. Highly recommend booking The Meadows for all it has to offer!
